by vegetal silk found plenty of articles, mostly in English; by artificial silk, don’t dare to tell you what I found, because it has nothing to do with the subject; just researched because I have many old skeins that have that designation on the label, in Portuguese – so w’ll forget the artificial silk

I researched these brands but Mr. Google took me to absolutely incredible ways and some even dubious the only article I found in Portuguese is from Brazil: Silk on the floor is a short text

in English there is much more information that led me to Kapok tree and I learned that is a tropical tree of oriental origin, whose seeds are also called silk cotton
Kapok is translated into Portuguese as sumaúma which confers with the image found on Google

Kapok tree
I find extraordinary that I found nothing in Portuguese or about the old marks; I know nothing at all the origin of the old vegetable silks that I have here
Is there anyone out there who has more information?
also search by vegetable Silk also known as Sabra, Cactus or Agave Silk
Bombay ceiba, Ceiba pentandra, ceiba tree, God tree, silk-cotton tree, white silk-cotton tree – I’ve found all this related with vegetable silk.
